I am very excited to announce ITGumbo’s first cash prize contest!
On April 30th we will award our first round of three $300 cash prizes:
$300 for the blog with the most page views
$300 for the blog with the most reader comments
And $300 for the single most popular blog post.

To maximize your chance of winning these prizes, there is one very important step you must take. To direct traffic to your individual blog and to your post permalinks, you should place the majority of your content in the “Extended Entry” field. This will create a permalink that will redirected the reader to your blog post and SCORE A POINT FOR YOU. If there is no “more” to read, the reader will most likely read your entire blog post off the ITGumbo homepage and this will not be counted towards your prize goal.
To do this in Movable Type, simple write the first paragraph of your post in the “Entry Body” field, and the rest of the post in the “Extended Entry” box.
Another tactic that will help you gain points is adding tags to your posts. The seven headings on the top of the homepage, Mobile, Open Source, Gadgets, .Net, Websphere, Outsourcing, and Executive Viewpoint are an excellent place to start for thinking of tags.
To aid in everyone’s prize winning, I will begin editing all old posts so that any text after the first paragraph appears in the “more” permalink. This will help increase everyone’s traffic. If you have any objection to me editing your old posts, or if you would prefer to do this job yourself, please let me know.
