Serving Ads through Speech Recognition Technology via VOIP gains ground
Tech startup PuddingMedia is launching a speech recognition ad serving technology that would display ad units on a users computer screen while connected to the internet. The technology would transcribe the users phone calls using Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and based on what the software recognize from the speech pattern of the mobile phone user and depending on its interpretation, the software would then serve relevant ad units to the user.
On Monday, AP reports that PuddingMedia is set to launch the new technology on a test mode on its web site. Users can use VOIP to make calls within the US. Using VOIP phone numbers of individual callers will be displayed on the computer screen where the relevant ads would also appear.
PuddingMedia is releasing the technology to license their speech recognition product for an eventual buyout, as the company has been receiving various offers already for the said technology.
Taking a cue from the current issue on internet private policy of search engine users, Ariel Maislos, chief executive of Puddingmedia, stressed that the company is not storing calls made through PuddingMedia’s product and neither does it keeps record of completed calls.
Maislos also told the AP, that he is hoping that the same technology would be available on mobile phones soon. When it happens, the ad being served will be displayed on the mobile phones screen.
