Tech Giants CISCO and Microsoft Join Forces
In a rare press event, the heads of two major IT players made an announcement of a collaboration effort between CISCO and Microsoft to develop the next wave of innovation and business success in the IT industry. Both CISCO Systems’ CEO John Chambers and Microsoft’s chief executive Steve Balmer reiterated their companies’ towards a better working relationship than a competing one.
To carry out this alliance, the two companies outline the following 7 collaborative business strategies:
* IT architecture – responding to the clamor of their IT customers, CISCO and Microsoft will work towards a service-oriented infrastructure that answers manageability, performance, security and scalability to secure critical success,*Security – to combat the growing problem on security hacks and viruses, a concerted effort is needed that would address architectural and deployment solutions,
*Wireless and mobile – the two companies will combine their specialty to work on improving telephony, integrated presence, calendaring and other communication features,
*Connected entertainment – the cooperation between the two giants would enable them to leverage on the interoperability of the emerging Internet protocol TV (IPTV),
The collaboration endeavor of these two tech giants is a welcome change to the ever escalating tech industry competition, which later on would lead to one company devouring a smaller start up with potential for success. And Microsoft is a well known tech company who do such acquisition activity in order to either push on with the current product, or simply let it die a natural death on its own backyard.
Chambers is very optimistic on the success of the partnership. Despite negative feedbacks about Microsoft’s rough business tactics, Chambers still believes that the collaboration deal would succeed.
