Sony To Launch Own Video Sharing Site

Google’s video sharing site, YouTube is again faced with another challenge and this time a tough challenger which would be very hard to beat. Yahoo Tech News via a Reuters, reports that Sony Japan is launching its own video sharing site on Friday. Tentatively called eyeVio, the video sharing site will be tested first in Japan before Sony makes it available on a worldwide scale. Sony also promises to ensure that videos that will be uploaded to eyeVio is properly screened and do not violate any copyright infringement. The video sharing site will be freely available at first and Sony is hoping to generate income from the site through video advertising and company tie ups. Looks like everybody is out to beat the crap out of Google’s very popular video sharing site. And with the entry of another well established company which have a strong presence in the media industry, it wouldn’t be hard for Sony to establish itself in the video sharing industry. And Google better be prepared to enhance YouTube’s capabilities and make sure that it leaves no room for Sony’s eyeVio to creep in.
