MySpace and Mark Brunnet’s Political Reality Show
What would you get if you combine the internet’s top cyber hang out and top reality TV show producer into an show that will showcase independent presidential aspirants?, “The Independent” that will be the newest political reality show that would sure to stir up wide audience interest when it launch sometime in 2008.
The new political reality show will feature candidates selected by the million of MySpace users, majority of them young people, from a pool of aspiring candidates who will submit their own campaign video on MySpace.
As in other reality TV show, “The Independent” contestant will be given missions or tasks which are related to current socio-political issues. From their responses, MySpace users would gauge their suitability to run for political office.
The whole point of 'Independent' really speaks to what young Americans want,
says Brunnet in a Reuters Report.
Sounds interesting? Most definitely. But the question is, how reliable are users votes going to be in selecting the best candidates who could run for the presidential candidates using their winning prize worth $1 million. Incidentally, that’s the irony of the contest or should I say the novelty part? Winners of “The Independent” would “receive” the prize money which they could not use for personal use. Instead, the money should be use for charitable cause or to finance “The Independent’s” candidacy.
What a way to test a candidate’s integrity, eh?
