Microsoft and Quintum Technologies Partner Up

An enormous challenge facing the world of telephony is convergence. The world of telephony is very different than the world of data communications, and while the transition is inevitable, the simple facts are that IT professionals need a solution that integrates both voice and data into one easy deployment.
Microsoft and Quintum Technologies have recently launched a significant Unified Communications initiative; offering a single platform for both voice and data. Quintum and Microsoft’s initiative provides a VoIP solution that simplifies connecting Office Communications Server 2007 to legacy analog telephony devices and the PSTN.

Quintum also becomes a Microsoft Certified Partner and by becoming a certified partner, Quintum’s engineers are assuring that the Tenor product line and Microsoft’s software perform seamlessly together. “As a Certified Partner, we are granted access into more sections of the partner Website that provides toolkits, such as those for sales, marketing, and technical demonstrations. We gain access into the partner’s learning center, which includes local courses, tutorials and analyst reports,” said Chuck Rutledge, VP of marketing at Quintum, Eatontown, NJ.
Quintum offers five product types that share a single code base compatible with Microsoft’s Office Communications Server 2007. The Tenor CMS, DX, BX, AX, and AF, which are all laid out in detail on the company’s Website. The variety of products, configurations, and signaling protocols will allow the Quintum Tenor to be deployed into any sized office with any type of legacy telephony equipment. Resellers can now work with legacy equipment rather then ripping out and starting over with clean installs.
Quintum also provides a full range of services to support the Quintum solutions with Microsoft’s Unified Communications. This includes integration planning, installation, and 24 hour support. Quintum provides all the training required to not only deploy Tenors, but also to diagnose any problems and support the product. This is a great value add for resellers who can ensure post sales support. Supplying and supporting VoIP switches and gateways is something Quintum takes pride in and they can assure that their resellers will be successful with the equipment.
The Tenor also includes a Unified Communications Proxy that supports a variety of features including the integration of branch offices, VoIP endpoints and IP-PBX’s into Microsoft Unified Communications. “Microsoft Unified Communications is an enterprise solution and is targeted at larger companies. It is also expected that service providers will be hosting Office Communications Server 2007 to offer Unified Communications services to smaller businesses,” said Rutledge. He went on to say, “Quintum has products that will support from 2 VoIP calls to 960 calls, so there is a solution for the smallest branch office/small business right through to an enterprise that might require 32 T1/E1 trunks of connectivity to the legacy/PSTN world.”
Cisco is a key competitor in the Unified Communications market as well as the VoIP gateway space. Quintum’s relationship with Microsoft is mutually beneficial as it will allow both Microsoft and Quintum to offer a complete solution that will successfully compete against Cisco’s offerings.
