Sony's VAIO is Vivacious (Corny, I know)
Sony's VAIO family of notebooks has long been touted as one of the true multimedia units on the planet. The vendor’s latest offering, the VGN-FZ140E/B notebook, continues down the path of its predecessors—this lightning-fast, super-powerful PC is ultra-thin, lightweight, and packed with entertainment features.
One thing that has always stood out about VAIOs is the excellent image quality of its screen. Even with this unit's small, thin design, it is still capable of sporting a 15.4-inch widescreen display with XBRITE-ECO technology and embedded A/V controls for one-touch access to music, movies, and pictures.
Similar to many of the multimedia laptops on the market today, the VAIO notebook includes Intel’s Core 2 Duo mobile technology, running at 1.8GHz. It includes a SATA drive with a capacity of 200GB. It also boasts 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 RAM as well as Intel’s Graphics Media Accelerator.
The integrated SuperMulti DVD burner can read and write all types of CD and DVD media. It features support for DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+R DL, DVD-RAM, CD-R and CD-RW.
The computer comes preloaded with the Windows Vista Home Premium operating system from Microsoft. The Home Premium edition of Vista includes the popular Windows Media Center application. Options such as a built-in camera and microphone will work seamlessly with Microsoft Home Premium, so users can video-chat with friends and family.
The notebook ships with a variety of application utilities such as Norton Virus Protection, Microsoft Works 8.5 for productivity, and Sony Click to DVD.
The thin-and-light VAIO FZ140E/B notebook packs big power and even bigger entertainment into a small, portable package. All VAIO FZ notebooks are crafted with an aesthetic touch and careful attention to detail.
The unit comes in two varieties. The first ships with Vista Home Premium and the second unit, the VGN-FZ140N/B, with Vista Business.
Within the same FZ family, for just a few dollars more, Sony offers an additional model with more horsepower. The VAIO VGN-FZ180E/B Notebook Computer comes with a higher performing 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, a Blu-ray Burner, and an nVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT graphics card.
